1. $50.00 LOADED FIREARM AND/OR MAGAZINE FEE - NO LOADED FIREARMS OR MAGAZINES ALLOWED, except mine of course! This is for your, any other’s present, and my safety. Any customer who knowingly or notwho brings in a firearm and/or that either has a round in the chamber or any rounds in the magazine (including detachable magazines) automatically incurs a $50.00 Loaded Gun Fee in addition to any service charges. If you have a round stuck in the chamber and/or magazine you must discuss this with me on the phone prior to arrival to avoid the above fee.
2. I reserve the right to refuse to perform any work or make any sales to anyone, for any reason I chose, specified or not (in other words I can refuse service and don’t have to tell you why if I don’t want to). This is in accordance with ATF regulations.
3. I can ONLY return a firearm to THE person who dropped it off. NO EXCEPTIONS.
4. Firearms not paid for and picked up within 30 days of work completion automatically become property of the store unless you have made arrangements with me, which included payment, to store the firearm with storage fees listed in “5” below. I call you when the work is done and may call you subsequently. If you have provided an email address, I may email you as well. The 30-day clock starts the business day I first call you. It does not matter whether you answer, your answering machine answers, or your voice mail is full/inoperative – I have fulfilled my obligation to you. Unless you have made storage arrangements with me, after 30 days, per NC state law, without notification, I may dispose of it/them as I see fit with no further obligation or recompense to you. Please pay for and pick up your firearms! I’ve had to institute this policy because of customers who have failed to pay for and pick up their firearms in a timely manner.
5. Storage Fees – With the exception of firearms I’ve repaired, I charge $15.00/30-days/firearm storage fee where any part of a 30-day period is considered the entire 30 days. For example, if you drop off your firearm on the 16th and are going to pick up your firearm in 61 days, your bill would be $15.00 for 30 the first days, + $15.00 for the next 30 days, and $15.00 for the next the last day = $45.00 total). For firearm repairs, if you’ve made arrangements with me and have paid me for the repair, (see 4 above – the clock starts when I first call you after the repair is complete), I charge $5.00 for the first 30 days and $15.00 for each subsequent 30 days where any part of a 30-day period is considered the entire 30 days (see the same example substituting $5.00 for the 1st 30-day period). Again, you must first pay for the repair before I will store the firearm! I’ve had to institute this policy because I’ve had several customers who’ve not picked their guns up for over a year but keep saying they are coming to get them!
6. I require payment either in cash, money order, certified check (no personal checks), or Navy Federal Credit Union direct transfer. For Navy Federal Direct Transfer, go to your account, click on Move Money, then Add Account. Select “by email address” and add my email – bosgunshopec@gmail.com. It will ask if “Setliff Enterprises” is correct – it is and add me. Then you can “move” the money to my account. If you have provided me an email address, I will confirm the payment when received.
7. Some firearms require more work than their market value. I require a deposit equal to my estimated cost prior to starting work.
8. Unless specified by the customer prior to starting work, all left-over parts, working or not, belong to Bo’s Gun Shop.
9. With rare exception I require the whole firearm to be present for me to do any work. In other words, don’t just bring a slide or lower or other part to work on. Bring the entire firearm whether it is assembled or not.
10. I perform safety checks on all firearms that come in the shop. I will not knowingly allow ANY firearm to leave the shop with safety(s), either internal or manual, that do not function. You are responsible for any/all costs associated with my correcting defective safeties. Please note that magazine interlocks are often called “safeties” by manufacturers when they are interlocks. Because it is not an actual safety, at your direction, I can disable this feature. I do not check function-check this capability as unless asked to do so.
11. Estimates are just that. I give you my best guess on time to complete and cost. You are welcome to give me a not-to-exceed dollar value— a stopping point for your job. Otherwise, I will work until the job you specified is complete.
12. I perform the work recorded on the work order I prepare with you when you bring your firearm in for repair. If you change the scope of the work subsequently, I record this on the work order as well. I offer you a copy of your work order at the completion of the work as your receipt and for your firearm records.
13. I do repair pellet, BB, and black powder firearms. I require a minimum deposit of $100.00 per black powder or BB gun before starting work.
14. Workmanship generally carries a 30-day guarantee. Manufacturer parts warrantees may be in effect as well. Manufacturer warrantees do not cover my labor cost. I am NOT responsible for misuse or abuse you subject your firearm to. Further, should you injure yourself or anyone else or anything else on purpose or by accident you bear complete responsibility.
15. Returns may be made of UNUSED items (other than ammunition or firearms), in the original undamaged packaging, with my original receipt within five business days of purchase. Note that I may consider store credit and/or partial refund for generic/multi-use items (e.g. scopes) after the five days and/or without the original undamaged packaging. Firearms are like cars. They depreciate as soon as they leave the lot. A purchased unfired firearm is still considered a “used” firearm the moment you walk out the door. All ammunition sales are FINAL - NO returns.
16. Most function checks are performed with snap caps (dummy rounds). At your discretion I can perform live ammunition checks on most firearms at additional cost. You will need to provide the specific ammunition you intend to use in the firearm for me to perform the tests with. Some repairs absolutely require you to provide samples of your ammunition for me to test with. It is cheaper for you to provide the ammunition than if I provide it.
17. For safety purposes, for hunting and “carry” handguns, I will not intentionally lower trigger weights to less than four pounds. Some triggers cannot be adjusted up to a minimum of four pounds for hunting but are considered “safe” because of their specific design. For strictly target or competition firearms, providing the design of the fire control system supports doing so, I am willing to lower the trigger weight to as low as two pounds. For special purpose rifles (e.g. SWAT snipers) I will lower the weight to as low as one pound.
18. I charge a minimum of 30 minutes work for any job unless it is listed in price list, in which case I charge the greater of the two.
19. Last, please note that I am retired and work on firearms because I love working on them, and better, love to meet and get to know all of you. At the same time, because I am retired, I work when I am up to it, part-time, and at my own pace. Still, I am quicker to get work done than most real gunsmiths. I appreciate you all and look forward to see you all soon
