YES, you CAN ship your long-gun directly to me (unless restricted by your state’s laws), and when I’m done I’ll ship it right back to you. For handguns it’s a nit more complicated. For them you must ship using an intermediary - through someone who sells firearms, a Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer. When I’m done I ship the handgun to them and you pick your firearm up from them.
To start the process either call me (preferred) or email me and let’s talk about what you need done to your firearm. Fill out the form (link located below) out completely - you may want to make a rough draft before contacting me initially as it will aid our discussion. Email me a copy and include a copy inside your shipping container. I’ll tell you how to package your firearm below.
For FIRING, FEEDING, EXTRACTION, or EJECTION problems, sighting issues I will need ammunition to test your firearm. You may either hip me at least 50 pistol, 10 shotgun, or 10 rifle rounds (as appropriate) of the ammunition you use in a separate shipment, or I can provide the ammunition and add this to your bill. I will not return unused ammunition. Inside the shipping container, include a copy of my shipping information form. Include a copy in the box with the firearm and one in the separate box of ammunition (if any). Also, for FIRING, FEEDING, EXTRACTION, or EJECTION problems please include at least one uncleaned ammunition case (brass) that was FIRED from the firearm you are shipping, during the time your firearm experienced the problems for which you are sending it to me). Please seal the case in a plastic baggie inside the box with your firearm and be sure to indicated you’ve included it in the description area of my shipping information form.
PACKAGING:
Of course the firearm MUST be unloaded. Also, if you are shipping ammunition you may NOT ship the ammunition in the same shipping container as the firearm. Include at least one magazine with the firearm and any magazines you need cleaned, repaired, or modified. If you have the original manufacturer’s shipping box (plastic or cardboard), wrap your firearm in either bubble wrap or heavy brown paper (like used for paper bags). Do NOT put tape directly onto the firearm! Place your firearm inside it’s original manufacturer’s container inside a second, unmarked box – do NOT use plastic shipping bags!If you do not have the original manufacturer’s box wrap your firearm in heavy brown paper then bubble wrap the firearm with magazine installed in at least two thicknesses of bubble wrap and place inside a box. Seal all box joints with shipping tape. CLEARLY label the outside of the container with a shipping label and TAPE over the entire label with clear tape. The only markings on the outside of the exterior box should be your return address and my address. DO NOT LABEL AS. A FIREARM OR AMMUNITION!
SHIPPING:
Long guns may be shipped any way including USPS. I’ve had the best experience shipping via UPS scheduled pickups. Neither UPS Stores or UPS drop off locations (like stores) will accept firearm shipments. You can ONLY ship UPS if you drop the package off at their distribution hub, OR you schedule a pickup at your place of business or home. Do NOT tell UPS you are shipping a firearm if you schedule a pickup or they will reject the shipment. You can schedule a shipment and pickup on UPS’s website. Of course you will need to weigh and collect the exterior box dimensions to pay for the shipment. They will charge you an additional $15 00 for the pickup service. Or you are welcome to ship whatever way that works for you. I’ll be returning your firearm to you using either USPS or UPS. I’d recommend you insure your shipment. Unless you specify otherwise, I’ll be insuring your firearm for its return.
